Lots of comments over the years on Public Sector inefficiency or waste or excess and whatever the rights or wrongs and whatever your thoughts on the individuals concerned Musk and DOGE have started doing what Trump said he would do and stood on which was to "audit" things like efficiency or waste or excess or Government payments.

Where would you start if you were doing something similar with the UK Government?

Start with some investigation and audit. Suspect their way will cost more in the long run.

Start by not having an unelected billionaire with a vested interest in lining his own pockets and advertising his cryptocurrency by calling the department by the same name.

Sack 50% of civil servants with 'manager' in their job title. Anyone with an odd numbered birthday should be arbitrary enough.

Councils. The roads are hellish and services are degrading yet we're paying more council tax than ever to live in our homes.

NHS. In particular the band 7 & 8a management. A lot of that money would be far better used to pay for additional medical staff. Not suggesting for one second many aren't worth it, but I know for a fact some aren't.

Be good if this didn't get closed down please.

Take the point about conflict of interest but could we respectfully keep the merits of Trump and/or Musk to their own threads smile

Starting point would not be to give the job to a bunch of clueless clowns.

If you really want to sort out an organisation, you don't walk in with preconceived ideas and an existing agenda. Uninformed simplistic nonsense is uninformed simplistic nonsense.

So what should you do? One strategy is to go talk to the people who are actually working at the coal face and you ask them what they think would make things better. You collate those ideas and you then tell them collectively what they have told you individually. And you take their best ideas and give them the means, responsibility and authority to put them into action. Because, funnily enough, most people are actually trying to do a good job and are frustrated by the things that get in their way, and know an organisation's problems more intimately than anyone else.

You telling me he doesn't have a vested interest? His plan is to reduce government expenses by integrating Dogecoin (DOGE) into federal operations.

Precisely. And because tax increases have not kept up with inflation / the cost of providing public services.

Nevertheless, a good starting point would be sort out tax evasion and benefit fraud. Billions to be found on just those 2.

I'd start, as Musk has, by stealing as much government department data as possible. That's paydirt right there.

And as well see with USAid, a lot of soft power and influence with it that'll leave a space to be filled by the Russians and Chinese.
