She’s not unattractive, if I was locked up I’d definitely be all the way in at any opportunity I can only imagine the sexual frustration otherwise knowing you’re only shagging a sock for the next few years.

Not saying she should have done it but I can definitely see why the inmates went there.

Prison isn’t supposed to be unprotected sex with early 20s horny women though. It’s supposed to be a punishment.

I don't think the surprising thing about these cases is that the inmates did it.

No definitely not, I’m just saying imagine you’re sent down for a stretch and while sitting in your cell facing a good few years of enforced celibacy she walks in and tips you a wink. It would definitely raise your spirits and be completely unexpected.

I think it would raise more than just your spirits.

However, the focus should rightly be on why a prison officer would mis-use their position so grossly.

I do recall former prison officers saying how standards (of prison officers) have dropped markedly in the last 10 years or so. But this is less about training and more just actual common sense surely?

I may be completely wrong but I doubt that's what happens, I suspect more likely that the person detained starts to show interest in the female prison officer and she runs with it, which is clearly not appropriate or acceptable in any sense but once she starts down that path she is then open to further corruption.

The law though will treat the prison officer as the person in the position of authority (as she is) and the detained person as the victim regardless of how it has all happened because of the balance of power.

The standards of a lot of things has dropped in the last 10 years not just prison officers.

Indeed. I heard on the radio the other day that the prison population has been ballooning over the last 5 years. Ffs, I'd love to go ballooning, but it's far too expensive. Yet these scumbags are getting fun days out in the clouds paid for out of my taxes

I'm sure that's true in some cases, but I've read accounts by prisoners of female prison officers making advances, which are difficult to ignore because of the power balance. I guess it then depends on the individual, as there are some women who are attracted to "bad boys", some who love the power, some who love thrill seeking, and some who love the attention and so encourage it.

It's an unusual power dynanic, where a woman has total authority over a man, and expoitation often occurs where there's such an imbalance in power.

Except it’s incredibly short lived, as it shifts dramatically and completely to the opposite extreme the moment the prison officer does anything other than plays a totally straight bat - the threat of being a sacked former screw banged up means that the prisoner swiftly adopts pretty much total control, and there are some lags who’ve gained more than just the novelty of dipping their wick out of the situation.

I maintain my personal view that young females are not best suited to being prison officers in male prisons, and indeed the same is likely to the true the other way around, although that dynamic seems to cause far fewer headlines
