Another actor who sadly had his addiction demons. He deserved better from his career IMO.

He was supposed to become a big part of the James Bond franchise as a more cynical and hardened version of the Felix Leiter/Jack Wade character when he was cast as Damien Falco in Die Another Day, but that film crashed the franchise so he had to be discarded for the Daniel Craig-led reboot.
