Thing that recently hit the news in the Us Midwest, but could be used anywhere really:

Pretty obvious when you think about it. Use cold cases for students to "train" on.

Yep. It’s been done for years. It’s resulted in several death sentences being overturned, as well as some phenomenally guilty people being finally sent to prison. It’s now a module on several uni criminology courses.
