Trial date is set for 11th August

Obviously a lot of people will be following this with interest on the back of Lucy Connolly.

There is video of him calling for the throats of "far right" protesters to be cut.

I predict guilty, twelve months, out in three.

Certainly much less than Connolly got, he has the advantage of being on the side in charge at the moment and all the protections that that affords.

He will have a token punishment to try and show that its all equal but in reality its very two tier.

Not enough protections to stop him being arrested / charged, though.

The conspiracy starts after that part.

There are these things called 'sentencing guidelines'. If he's found guilty you'll see if the judge sentences in accordance with them or not: https://www.sentencingcouncil.org.uk/offences/magi...

That'd be an objective and rational way to judge it i.e. on its own merits, rather than against a different, more serious offence. But I doubt many people are interested in that rather than waiting to pounce on it if it furthers their own agenda (of which you appear to be one of those people).

Inchoate offences (e.g. encouraging in this case) are usually less serious than the principal offence.

You can see straight away in the sentencing guidelines it doesn't appear the higher culpability or harm are present.

However, he is going to trial so will lose any early-plea discount and there may be aggravating factors.

My point is judge it based on its own circumstances and whether he (if guilty) is sentenced according to the sentencing guidelines judges must follow.

Hopefully prison awaits though you never know with jury trials.

No idea what the sentencing guidelines are for what he said.

Odd, that given he's on the "same side", that he was kicked out of the Labour party immediately, and was charged and is going to trial.

This two tier nonsense is a complete myth dreamt up by anti British scum who call them selves patriots, and swallowed by the gullible.

Two reasons it isn't comparable to Lucy

1. There are no national riots happening
2. He didn’t PUBLISH what he said on social media (or anywhere else).

Suspended sentence. Though that wont be good enough for the free speech/free Lucy C for hurty words / two tier crowd.

Both are classed as hate crimes.

But you are correct re suspended sentence plus, no sweets or allowed out to play for a week.

That should do it.

Charges are slightly different

Lucy Connolly - inciting racial hatred
Ricky Jones - encouraging violent disorder

The results would be near enough the same.

Although i didn't realise asylum seekers were a race.

Whilst the charge is different, the sentiment is very similar. "Kill people who I disagree with."

He won't see a day inside. Probably get the whip removed and a token suspended sentence but no time actually behind bars. Two tier? Hear hear!

LC was telling people to kill people she didn't want in the country, not for their political views. So not the same.

She said burn them down (hotels) for all I care. Her error was pleading guilty had she gone to trial a good defence would have created doubt in the direct threat.

Her guilty plea removed her right to appeal etc. Poor advice from her defence.

Makes you wonder what pressure she was under when arrested.

One of the pleasures of PH is that we have posters with huge legal experience which allows them to tell us she would not have been found guilty if only he/she had represented them.

While she could not appeal the guilt she did appeal the sentance. Link below.

Unusually for such a hearing oral evidence was given and the judgement covers the interaction between her and her solicitor.

I am sure she was under huge pressure knowing she was likely to serve time. Internet rule think before you post.

Are they? Can you point to the relevant legislation that makes out violent disorder as a hate crime please.

If not they are then comparable (although you know this)

He's already pled not guilty. That's why we're having a trial.

Neither his guilt or his punishment is decided by the current government.
