As ever. People who didnt own slaves, paying money to people who were never slaves will not change history.

I guess Lenny and Marcus have run out of money and work so need to grift some..

Everyone should read/listen to Bob Geldoff’s book.

Remember who initially captured and sold the slaves to the european traders. It will still be going on today.

One could argue that today Russia and China are Colonial countries, looking to expand into neighbouring territories in a hostile manner. India and Africa are politically allying themselves with these countries now to effectively thumb their noses at the West over historic colonialism. They're profiting from misery and death being caused by colonialism today.

I suppose I would have to read the book before being absolutely certain that I haven’t overlooked something, but surely any reparations discussion would need to start with a comparison between the wealth/living standards of modern descendants of (transatlantic trade) slaves and related populations still living in Africa?

I would imagine that the results of such a study would kill the idea stone dead - it would be hard to financially compensate individuals or even countries for something that had been financially beneficial to them.
