Spoke to my wife about this a few months back. We both grew up in 70's/80's and the permanent sense of 'brown alert', the impending nuclear war, was never too far into the back of your consciousness. Half Man Half Biscuit best summed it up - I'll take each Armageddon as it comes.

You'll be alright, for a little while longer. Our AI revolution has only just begun.

In Terminator land we were all nuked in August 1997. The second pic is that future.

When the apocalypse arrives, I hope to be among the instant deaths. Quick, painless, if possible.

Seem to be including "climate change" so perhaps not.

In any case no idea why it would be higher this year than last. The Middle East has stepped back from open war and has an uneasy ceasefire. The US is clearly trying to push for a peace agreement in the Ukraine. Nothing else has changed materially.

If it was 90 last year, perhaps a 92 this year?, or stop reducing it to such a simplistic measure.

Yes the point I'm making is the AI revolution started in 1997 there, it's only just started here now.

Bring it on, make it quick. Nothing will ever be as good as the 70s and 80s I experienced. (Too young for the 60s to be much of a memory).

Does it not work on fallout dust? There's probably an attachment for that.

I am 52 so grew up during the cold war, to this day the music that plays when the "Protect and Survice" logo is displayed still terrifies me.

I went to visit the secret nuclear bunker in Kelvedon Hatch a while ago and it was utterly deserted as we did our self tour. It's pretty dark in there with manequins about, and in one room the Protect and Survive films were playing on loop on an old CRT and VHS.

Just hearing the tune as I was walking around a deserrted nuclear bunker was very sobering. Leaving and walking out to a beautiful summers day was a surreal experience.

Should probably arrange a nice cheerful evening watching Threads, The War Game and The Day After soon.

Yes but apparently has to be from a 20 kiloton or above nuke or it may cause swirling

The current thinking is that once AI becomes super human then it will start to deceive us.
We will likely catch it out - more than once - but eventually no matter what safe guards we put in place and revisions we make to the software it will eventually see us as the enemy.

There was an interesting theory that if, for example, China and US try to have a war in the future using AI that is when it might turn on us and the 2 different AI models might actually join forces. Bit like NVidia vs AMD back in the day... but then they become self aware and green and red join forces .. suppose that makes team.... brown? <shrugs>

I wouldn't worry too much, with the correct brand of ceramic polish your paintwork should survive anything up to and including a multi-megaton airburst smile
