I have seen some of the clips being posted and they have looked very impressive.

Currently it is short clips but are we only a few years away from potentially having AI movies?

In respect to the home user sphere the big media companies will be unlikely to be able to hold back the tide. Fan generated short and even (in time) full length films are inevitable even if legal threats hobble the big players.

I’m not really a film person, but are people really wanting to watch feature length AI slop? It already seems to have taken over my YouTube algorithm, so I’m watching less and less.

With today's technology no. Most of the clips out there, including the recent ones which generated so much interest, are carefully chosen to hide the limits of technology.

However it has advanced significantly in only a few years and at the current rate of progress could easily be a substitute for more CGI heavy and action focused hollywood fare. Particularly if orientated toward what the fans want.

As an example I see lots of Dragonball Z brief clips and I imagine a fan orientated AI product could have lots of interest.
