Women in South Korea are shunning men and children.

"4B is shorthand for four Korean words that start with bi - meaning 'no': bihon (rejection of marriage), biyeonae (no dating), bisekseu (abstaining from sex) and bichulsan (refusal of childbirth). Many other women declare themselves 'bihon', denoting their choice to remain single forever."

Must admit that I hadn't heard off the 4B movement. It looks like it could be an issue for South Korea.

In all honesty, I cannot blame the women. Even in the UK we are unable to protect them from abuse (and I am not singling out any race, as there is still a problem with our home grown abusers).

I heard of it a few years back. IIRC it's declining. Maybe 20,000 'followers', largely digital and not necessarily that many who actually follow all or many of the 4B's.

So, no I don't think it's a big issue.

But then, I'm not exactly glued to SK culture, so it could have expanded since then.

Despite the techy sheen, South Korea still has deeply-rooted Confucian ideas about the sexes.

And that's before we get to the pressures stemming from education and careers.

Both of them together are the perfect cocktail for people to throw in the towel. Going on the birth rate there, we already knew that.

Well I can say the opposite, In Piccadilly Circus 7yrs back and approached for directions by a stunning lady half my age, studying medicine here and within 24hrs she was on top of me for 8 months of lust, I couldn’t believe my luck and sadly she returned but she did say dating at home was odd.

Korea seems to be like a heavily distilled Japan. I had seen some sort of analysis saying that it was in terminal demographic decline but the birthrate has picked up a tiny amount lately...... https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharma...

Probably this. 4B gets all the media attention. More to do with very high housing costs and childcare costs. This then resets societal expectations. Then add on top the divisiveness of social media.
