According to the figures, the biggest contingent of foreign-born mothers came from India, who gave birth to 27,601 babies in England and Wales in 2025.
More than 22,000 mothers were born in Pakistan, 15,500 in Nigeria and 10,600 in Romania. Other leading nations were Bangladesh, Poland, Ghana and Afghanistan.
India was also the largest source of immigrants to Britain in the so-called “Boriswave”, with 300,000 arriving in the peak year of 2023. Pakistan, Nigeria, Bangladesh and Ghana also contributed large numbers of migrants in recent years.

Well we need to get the birthrate up. Surely this is a good thing. article said:

What we are witnessing is a huge demographic shift where within less than a lifetime the indigenous people of the UK will become a minority in their own land
They are being replaced by people with completely different cultures, backgrounds and religion
We are already seeing balkanisation in communities which is very bad
There has been more immigration in the last 25 years than in the 1000 years that preceded it and that was mostly of people with the shared culture, background and religion of the indigenous population and in low numbers over lengthy time periods
Some might not see it as an issue but the UK as a white Christian country is rapidly being replaced, in some parts already immigrant parents make up 80% of all births
I don't write this as anti immigrant but as fact, our society changing beyond all recognition and no one was ever asked if that's what they wanted and repeatedly the electorate has voted for parties promising to reduce immigration whilst doing the exact opposite which is why we are where we are politically today

Thank goodness for the arrival of Hong Kong ese and Ukranians in my locale, otherwise most of our new neighbours would have Arabic/Muslim names. It is the lack of mixing that bothers me rather than just the sheer numbers. It is the complete opposite of diversity.

If the share of foreign babies is 40% that suggests that the share of indigenous babies is 60%.
60% is more than 40%.
Anyone who thinks those figures will result in the indigenous population becoming a minority is (to put it politely) innumerate.
The share to foreign born mothers, when taken with UK born mothers who are non indigenous the picture is somewhat different 60% is more than 40%.
Anyone who thinks those figures will result in the indigenous population becoming a minority is (to put it politely) innumerate.
The birth rate for British mothers is 1.39 and for on British 2.03
And it would be you that is innumerate

If 25% of the women are having 40% of the children now, 60% is more than 40%.

then in one generation they will be 40% of the women and having ~50% of the children
In two generations tops the indigenous population will be a minority.
did someone say innumerate?

Well, we don t want immigrants so we need UK born workers to fund the triple lock pensions of people who didn t make enough financial provision for their own retirement.
Immigrants from Pakistan, Bangaldesh and Somalia consume the most housing benefit (per capita). They aren t even net contributors - how are they funding pensions?Edited by fido on Thursday 28th May 18:33

Firstly because in two generations time the existing indigenous white population won't all instantaneously die or disappear, Even if the birth rate disparity was maintained it would trake several generations for people whose parents/grandparents/great grant parents were immigrants to exceed the white population (and let's be honest, this isnt about immigrants/indigenous...it's about brown/black people, regardless of how long they've been in the UK).
Secondly birth rates of 2nd generation immigrants onwards tend to fall until they're the same level as the indigenous population.
By the way it would help if you started your projections from an accurate base.

40% from the Telegraph article

do the maths, not the political support.

I ve never understood why either. The argument against a declining population is lack of tax / the young look after the old bit of there aren t any jobs for the youth surely not having them is a good thing.
It seems to me that those who want the immigration give the economics as an excuse. But the economics of importing cheap labour made little sense even before AI arrived to put huge swathes of us out of a job.

Anyone that thinks that a 40% share in births, form something like 10% of the population wont lead to the 90% people only generatng 60% of births being replaced, needs to get their head checked. (to put it politley)60% is more than 40%.
