What is it about the BBC and its consistent lack of due diligence ?

Looks like an absolute mess all round.

Disgusting behaviour and taken at face value a complete lack or failure of diligence.

Surely he must remember the tweets and remarks and knew they would surface at some stage?

Baffling why you would put yourself in such a position.

Blimey - that's some article in the link. I wonder why they copied so much of the unpleasant stuff out?

Perhaps because it's a good indication of what an unpleasant sphincter the bloke is. I'd guess there is also a little bit of glee at the BBC being caught AGAIN.

I’m somewhat struggling with calling this bloke a BBC Presenter.
I can’t help but think a very very minor random celeb who played lower league football gobbing off on SM 10+ yrs ago is rather less salacious than ppl are pretending to clutch their pearls about.
Or in other words, ahole bloke almost nobody has ever heard of is an ahole. Nobody is shocked. World carries on.

No excuse for their due dilligence failure but hardly a "BBC Presenter" being on a hardly watched programme on BBC3 but same standards should apply. I am not sure who actually watches BBC3 and the others.

Remember this is NP&E so there's a BBC element to this Deej.

If this bloke was on the Reform thread and being put forward as an MP I expect we'd see some of this dismissed as "banter" and a call for "Christian forgiveness" but because it give the chance to (quite rightly) criticise the BBC it gets a different reaction.

Defiantly has an interesting background coming from a lads culture, getting pissed on tv, sleeping with women etc.

Lost his daughter to leukaemia at 8months old after she was diagnosed at 8 weeks. It seems he has turned his life around, created a charity to combat the disease, and completed multiple charity events to raise money for said charity.

Obviously what he has said is disgusting and abhorrent.

It looks like a production company makes the show, so wonder if BBC rely on them to complete any due diligence?

He looks like a total bellend, especially with that ste on his face.

Wouldn't have expected anything less than the tripe he's been reported to have spewed out.

Needs his bks kicking up his back.

I think what he has said is absolutely disgusting. However... do we really believe someone should not be able to have [certain] jobs because of things they wrote 10+ years ago?

I'm not suggesting I believe he should or shouldn't have been allowed to present this series, just interested in people's opinions because I'm quite conflicted on this and really hate "trial by social media".

Should someone be punished for life for things said (maybe in jest, maybe in the heat of a moment) decades ago?

I think most people can determine between the odd thing said "maybe in jest, maybe in the heat of a moment" and what looks a pretty unpleasant pattern of behaviour.

This looks the latter.

Maybe he gets upset with women often being taller than him?

5'6" laugh - might explain the beard too.

BBC3 is for the young and easily influenced.

It's output and choice of presenters should go through proper DD

It's made by True North Productions and distributed by ITV Studios, so bought in rather than produced by the BBC.

Although i don't remember the same level of complaints when a person convicted of assaulting a police officer got his own TV show..

Jings, did he grow that face fuzz for a bet? There's a reason some people should be clean-shaven. Ghastly misogyny; has he ever repudiated this language? He might have become a reformed character, the article does not explore this.
