My information is that this is engineering works related. Mass casualties hospitals on major incident alert.

I am hoping that is the back of 115.

Sadly I suspect you’re right, I’d imagine both drivers could be responsible for saving many lives though looking at the photos posted above. If action was taken just seconds later

Sounds like the intercity train was stationary and 115 crossed over from a different line and ran into the back of it. So sadly the crushed cab would be where the driver was.

We would not be seeing photos of a crushed cab if there was someone trapped or dead in there

Estimated 200 people on the train, 100 injured.

Looks like 8 potentially fatal, 24 bad and 90 walking wounded.

Both trains were travelling towards London so I would presume that the Intercity train has gone into the back of the Multiple Unit.

Based on the train headcodes one was travelling towards London and the other away from London, although I have read that one of the trains was stopped investigating a fault.

I'm also hearing rumours that a driver has died

No, as Matt said the intercity was stationary, reports of the train stopping suddenly due to a possible issue with the safety systems.

The EMU went into the back of the intercity.

The 810 was stopped with a fault the 360 hit it from the rear.

Reports the driver of the 360 is deceased.
