Farage will win and that’s not really in any doubt.
Clacton is prime Reform territory just as it was UKIP before it and whilst Clacton itself is benefit receiving central who will blame anyone but themselves for being sponges, there are areas like Frinton where you have old colonels who have auto refresh enabled on the Daily Mail webpage and blame immigrants for everything despite that area being 95%+ white British.
The problem Farage faces is that it’s turned into a farce. He betted it would be a normal by-election with proper opponents where he could get his message over that he’s the victim of an ‘establishment’ witch hunt and to a much wider audience than Clacton itself. Unfortunately for Nige, it backfired badly when the other major parties decided not to play his silly games and now we enter the normal summer recess where not much happens politically so ALL the cameras will be on Nige as there simply isn’t much else to cover.
Nige has to fight it with seriousness which just adds to the ludicrousness of the whole thing as Binface will be there just having fun and taking the piss out of Farage at every opportunity and he’s getting as much coverage as Farage at the moment. There is no upside for Nige in all this. If he wins by a large margin, he still can’t claim a mandate as he won against a joke candidate. If he wins by a few points then he ‘just’ won to a joke candidate and will be reminded of this at every opportunity. If he loses (highly unlikely) then he may as well pack his bags and leave the country as the utter embarrassment would send others to suicide.
Whoever was Nige’s political advisor needs a firm slap. They gambled and lost even though he’ll win the by-election. Oh, and the £5m investigation will still be waiting for him when he’s returned as MP for Clacton.

True. I'd laugh myself into insensibility if the count wins. I’ld just observe this is an example of a meme in action:
Conservatives/labour/lib dems/etc chorus
“Boo, down with this sort of thing”
Farage reponse
“Ok let’s fight a byelection”
Chorus
“No not like that”….
He’s a muppet and trying to avoid the HoC investigation (which in itself is a hatchet job) but the behaviour of the other parties is risable.
But I quite like old Binny. Even if I disagree with Harvey’s politics.

Regardless of his politics - he makes valid points through satire.
Failure's to address cost of living
Failures of privatisation
Failures to build sufficient social housing or encourage small private sector investment
Inadequate road policies
etc etc.
It's a shame many only see an idiot in a bin space traveller outfit.

The other parties "not standing" despite having done so at Makerfield I am afraid suggests they know they will be destroyed and don't want that.
If he loses then he may as well leave politics and the country.... But I suspect even if all the Labour, Tory and Green voters combined, they won't beat him.

He's upto his nuts in some serious accusations, and his attempted deflection has been expertly played straight back at him.
The money sloshing around reform and farage needs to be investigated as it's source is certainly not clear, and rapidly looking like dirty money moved around to avoid both tax and scrutiny.
Still, feel free to put your PH reputation in a bin and set fire to it, if it makes you feel better.

Not really. Farage didn’t give the other parties what they wanted. He tried to be clever and failed. Farage fighting a by-election doesn’t address what parliament wanted. It’s not “no, not like that” at all. Conservatives/labour/lib dems/etc chorus

It is all the more amusing that they are all saying they will stand at the next one, as if the result of the inquiry has already been decided. Conservatives/labour/lib dems/etc chorus

If the inquiry decides that no wrong was done they are going to look like complete idiots not competing in this one.

Precisely, Farage has tried to pull a fast one and it has backfired, even to the point of now trying to dredge up dirt on John Harvey, he went to Oxford and is now just another establishment luvvie according to a Reform adviser. He's upto his nuts in some serious accusations, and his attempted deflection has been expertly played straight back at him.

Nigel is suggesting that the voters of Clacton are the arbiters of whether or not his behaviour meets the standards expected of an MP, sorry Nigel but that’s a matter for the standards committee, who will have the relevant information and facts before them to make an informed, independent decision. The other mainstream parties have avoided getting involved in this for precisely the right reasons, if Farage wins but a second by election is called, they will stand.

The only amusing aspect is Binface. Farage has tried to grab the agenda and is using the Clacton voters to further his own ends, nothing else. Why should any mainstream party get involved? If the inquiry decides that no wrong was done they are going to look like complete idiots not competing in this one.
Even Lowe has refused to get dragged into it and in all likelihood, Restore are the party that could inflict the most damage on Farage, yet they’ve seen this for what it is.

This is one I wondered about: surely by not standing, Restore have done Farage a favour as otherwise they’d take a chunk of the “Reform are too soft” vote, thus leaving Farage more vulnerable to tactical voting for Binface as the “not Farage/Reform/Restore” candidate.Even Lowe has refused to get dragged into it and in all likelihood, Restore are the party that could inflict the most damage on Farage, yet they ve seen this for what it is.
I think, as per many other elections of this type, turnout will be important to the final result. Farage has an advantage in that a lot of his vote would crawl over broken glass to get to the polls regardless of who they’re voting for, but Binface needs to motivate a protest vote to turn out (or at least post a vote in) for him, which is a much trickier task.
The rules are the problem, you shouldn't be allowed to resign then immediately stand for re-election just a total waste of money.
Agree with the other parties not wanting to have anything to do with it hopefully Binface takes a reasonable chunk of the vote.
The other issue is that this by-election should never be allowed to be carried out until the results of the investigation into Farage and reforms finances are completed otherwise we could end up with another by-election at a cost of a quarter £1 million quid 6 months later.

I don't know. He has to get his fans to turn out while not motivating people who don't like him. And he got less than 50% of the vote when he was elected.Hopefully Binface wins and turns up to every session in his costume.
