PMQs is indeed a complete waste of time and indicative of our shambolic parliament.
It's just a shouty pantomime chimps' tea party that achieves nothing. Hague's trap? - he often twisted Blair in knots but it made no difference at election time.
The speaker is more to blame than anyone; questions - if they are serious and not just for points-scoring - should be heard in silence and properly addressed. Instead the noise continues and "answers" are either waffle or more points-scoring.
I know it's been like this for ages. It doesn't make it any better or more effective. IMHO we ought to have far fewer MPs, maybe 200, properly paid to attract those who have skills and experience.

I agree with the idea of having more highly paid MPs to attract the best people, but in return for the big bucks they need to be genuinely held to account. I believe it’s time we got rid of the career politicians too. What we have right now is a system that trains our representatives to be party first country second politicians. This has to change.

Maybe we should also look at ending political donations and fund parties centrally.
Holding politicians to account is a good call, but we need to carefully define what that means and what the measures are. 'Make them keep their manifesto pledges' is too simplistic and doesn't allow for action as circumstances change. Better to define some metrics to genuinely improve most peoples lives and measure progress against them.
