What on Earth is wrong with clicking on a BBC article? (O/T)
Space has already been weaponised. There's already dual-use satellite technology for the de-oribit of space junk, and it's already been tested. Satellite to satellite confrontation is already happening with close-passes and lack of deconfliction occuring on a regular occurrence.
That would suggest to be that what they've put up there isn't kinetic, put possibly intended to break communication links.

Not at all. I'd also not be surprised if Russia, China and Israel had weapons in space.I'm surprised that the Orange Turd wasn't the one to announce it personally.
I'm glad a Western country is taking it seriously - we are defenseless here.
Toby Tarrant was mocking Trump this morning on the radio, along the lines of "what is he thinking!?" , "I know, lets put more weapons in space!" - and I'm thinking, thank god someone is doing something. Then to top it off, he carries on, "you'd think he'd be more like, "lets explore space - its amazing" (and I'm thinking , that's exactly what Elon is doing, but, no, Elon = bad - best ignore). He really needs to think before speaking (Tarrant)

I d be amazed if they weren t there in some form or other from the moment we broke orbit
What do you mean by “broke orbit”?Do you mean the ability to put something into earth orbit?
If you do then, yes, both the US and the USSR were quick to try and use earth orbit as a place for military activities
The US has had reconnaissance satellites since around 1960.

Rods from God?
TX.
I think if someone had actually put rods from God up there, they'd have already been used. They're the perfect first strike weapon - the force of nukes without the radiation, very short time from launch to impact, etc.TX.
You could take out the government and primary military capability of anyone pretty easily if you had them, with limited risk of retaliation.
