The BBC have reported that Earl Spencer claimed that The King - then Prince Charles was 'elated' at the news that Diana had died.

If he had that kind of sentiment about the whole thing, you'd think Harry would have shown that in his book.
I can't see it, personally. The King may be a lot of things but he doesn't seem the sort to relish his ex-wife's death.

He didn't say said it - he said seemed to be. That protects him from legal action. It is possible Charles wanted to go off with that horse faced woman so he was happy Di was out of the picture.

At the time of her death, they'd been separated 5 years and divorced for a year. There was nothing stopping Charles from going off with Camilla when Diana was alive. His speech at his sister's funeral was the wrong time and wrong place, but I put it down to grief. Then I did a bit of reading up on him.
This latest could be seen as more of the same. Is there money involved somewhere? A book? TV series? A series of articles in a sympathetic paper? As pointed out by a previous poster, she was out of Chas' life although there might have been a threat of a book, TV series, or press articles at a later date from her if she ran out of rich friends.

For all of his talk at Diana's funeral of blood family and protecting his nephews, his own personal life is a car crash. Currently on wife no 4, following 3 divorces. 2 ex wives have accused him of cruelty and emotional torture, with his first wife becoming anorexic and claiming that he constantly accused her of being fat, having given birth to 4 children. 2 of those children have now married and Spencer wasn't invited to their weddings. You have to be a pretty st father to not be invited to your own kid's wedding.
