What is it with this nation and the fact anything like this becomes a complete joke.

Its been in bayeux quite accessible if you have ever been that desperate to see it.
Im astounded they want 33 quid to see it as well, it cant be more than 30 mins in total.

I saw it in Bayeux years ago, it was very cool and there were hardly any people which surprised me. We almost had the place to ourselves.
There is a replica (made in Victorian times) in Reading Museum which nobody seems to know about. IMHO the British Museum should be talking about the replica in Reading and encouraging people to go and see that instead. It would be good for Reading and the museum (more tourism). The Elizabeth Line goes to Reading so if you are in London anyway then it's doable transport wise. And it would help to highlight some of the lovely regional museums that really deserve more visitors.

Another idea - they should commission a modern replica and put it somewhere in the North. Surely it would be not expensive by museum standards.
The British Museum has the chance to do some good here

The reading one is a good shout but I’m not sure about the whole ‘go and visit it in Bayeau it’s cheaper’.
It might be but you have to shell out on either a Eurostar into Paris and back out (c£170 just for the trip to Gard du Nord) or the ferry to Caen and a car hire. Probably the best part of £200.

Nobody was interested when it was in bayeux. When I heard it was coming here I thought about it but they had already closed the museum. It might be but you have to shell out on either a Eurostar into Paris and back out (c£170 just for the trip to Gard du Nord) or the ferry to Caen and a car hire. The reading one would be interesting. The authentic one has lots of sewn in nudity with tackle out and stuff.
Would the prudish victorians replicated all that before proudly showing it to Queen Victoria?
I doubt it.
