I hate to give Carlson publicity but it was hilarious to see him demolished by Mogg.

I especially like the logic that we could have been allies of Hitler.... Well, yes, we could. But we didn't want to be, for reasons obvious to everyone in the world except Carlson.

I’ve seen snippets of this over the past week. The WW2 discussion is a disgrace taken at face value. It’s even worse when you consider what Carlson is trying to push.

He’s trying to garner sympathy for a country that had its borders changed historically and that it should be OK for them to claim it back whenever they want.

Basically trying to justify Russia’s attack on Ukraine.

Carlson is ideologically captured and has been for a long time, couple that with being not particularly intelligent and you get his ideas.

Literally made my year. Carlson is a lying, vile, gullible fool.

Very rarely would I ever say "Yay - go Jacob" - but I did on this occasion.

Carlson - A perpetually baffled look on a face you would never tire of punching.

I had to check that that was actually Carlson's own YouTube channel ... I mean, it is, isn't it? He's getting demolished by Mogg, and all Mogg is having to do is point at some basic history and economics.

It's quite worrying if his attitudes and views represent a proportion of the American population

I think Carlson’s plan was to invite someone along who he thought would be another bitter, angry ex-MP who would agree with everything he said, talk a lot like Lord HawHaw and agree that Britain is a Muslim Hellhole (TM Trump) and throw in a few smug gotchas along the way. Instead he got schooled by someone vastly more intelligent than him, who barely got out of 1st gear in terms of his own ability. I don’t agree with much that Rees-Mogg says or does, but this was lovely to watch.

Just reading the comments on the video of the full interview seems to suggest there is a lot of support for Tucker and they even seem to think Tucker was right throughout this debate

It was an extraordinary performance from Carlson.
It wasn’t even as if JRM was having to flex some kind of superior intellect: all he did was correct or query lines of reasoning of vapid BS and frankly weird views on Hitler.

I’ve seen snippets of Carlson over the years and he has always struck me as deep as a puddle. Memorably over 20 years ago on Crossfire he sat there wearing a bow tie (which to be honest should have been spinning clown like) looking like a sad tribute act to William F Buckley Jnr while Jon Stewart schooled seven shades of st out of him on the difference between political analysis and comedy…

Enjoy the watch for auld lang syne… amusingly reputedly that particular segment led to CNN canning the show in 2005.

Not a serious man. Mogg just reminded us of the fact.

So that's Piers Morgan and JRM that Carlson has managed to make appear calm, sane and rational.

Could such a person earn any money outside if the United States? How does he do it?

I watched it the other night and couldn't believe what I was hearing. Some of the most ridiculous nonsense I've ever heard - how Carlson can even utter half of it with a straight face is baffling. I'm still half hoping his whole career has been some incredible piece of Andy Kaufman-esque performance art. The thought he might be real is shudder-inducing.

A big issue these days is comments can't be used as any sort of reliable indicative measure, as it's impossible to tell how many are real and how many are a result of pure engagement farming. Same with likes and views.

Me too. Much as I dislike JRM, he wiped the floor with the imbecilic Carlson.

Definitely not a fan of Mogg but Carlsons views were vile and shallow. When I first started to watch it I thought the conversation would expose the pair of them but I actually agreed on Moggs position of standing up to the bully with a strong stance on defence.

Someone once described Carlson as looking like a dog that just been shown a magic trick.

I read a lot of them and it seems they either:

1. don't specify who they are talking about so are probably bots.

2. Just support TC regardless and haven't watched it.

3.read the click are headline and responded to that.

4. Couldn't get past RM accent/ look so commented on that.

There are plenty of people saying same as this thread though - ie

1. Don't like or follow RMs worldview but he is bang on here.

2. I like TC but he got owned here coz he didn't ask the 'right questions' / let RM getaway with bs.

The number of UK commenters stating JRM isn’t smart was a bit odd. JRM maybe a complete social anachronism but he’s well educated (Trinity, Oxford), joined J Rothschilds investment bank, working under Nils Taube, who was one of the leading fund managers in London (and who founded the IFS and was a chum of Soros so no pushover) going on to manage funds in Hong Kong before going onto set up Somerset Capital Management with the odious Crispin Odey.

He’s smart. You may not like him, and he’s an extremely odd guy, but not smart? That seems like politics clouding judgement.
