I can't believe I've read this.

Forensics Student killed a woman, I suspect for the challenge.

Having coated the room in plastic to conceal evidence he seems to have changed his plan and just randomly called the police with no credible explanation, explaining his own injuries as a fox bite! It was blatantly obvious it was him so any hope of misdirection didn't get off the ground.

Criminals are so dumb. Also I've heard there's a higher rate of crime among criminologists, wonder if it's the same with forensic scientists.

Hopefully he won't be seeing daylight again - motiveless, highly planned murder. Hard to imagine he'd ever be safe.

Have you seen his picture? And the street where his family's house is located in Redditch?

They are going to absolutely love him in HMP Birmingham.

"He planned this murder in meticulous detail."

I wonder if waving down a police car and claiming he had been attacked by a fox was part of his plan? Because waving down police cars near the scene of the crime is obviously the first thing serial killers do.

RIP Maria, tragic.

Shouldn't laugh over such a heartbreaking case but the fox detail made me snort. I guess it was the first animal that popped into his head. Lucky he didn't say kangaroo.

I'd never heard of anyone being bitten by a fox so I googled. Vanishingly rare. Under 10pa in the UK.

Poor woman. frown

Not sure I remember the part in Dexter where he flags down the police after committing a horrifying crime and explains it away as being attacked by a fox. Not very criminal mastermind, is it.

Awful thing, that poor young lady. Hope the fat-lipped little bd rots.

Well yes

Dexter is about a psychopath who tries to channel those urges into being a vigilante. I would suggest the main problem with this lad is that he has the desire to kill someone, not his obsession with a show featuring someone with similar urges.

Dexter has millions of fans and most manage to resist the urge to cover a room in plastic before killing someone in it. In fact I would argue that some of the early seasons are more dark comedy than horrific.

Foxes are very timid creatures. I see loads around but the second they get a sniff if you they are off.

Late Uncles used to feed foxes with sliced ham in their back garden, their cat would march into the middle of their circle and take the ham, with the foxes backing off.

I'm not sure what you think I was suggesting. I don't think any of Dexter is particularly horrific (I enjoyed John Lithgow's turn in it massively). My point is this person is not just a murderous creep, but also an idiot.

I didn't say you were implying anything. The media article seemed to be blaming it on his obsession with Dexter and you seemed to disagree, as do I.

I can generally get quite close to my little mate who waits each evening at the side of the house for his eggs, moist dog biscuits and Webbox chubb roll. He's still rightfully timid of people though.

They've started to disperse now, but earlier in the year around June time there were sometimes eight sitting around our close. smile

Given around half of murders go unsolved you'd have to be a particularly rubbish student of forensics science to get caught.

Yeah does it say which University he attended? I’d be crossing that off my list. Lecturing must be crap if this is the calibre they are producing.

Maybe it was their Christmas homework and the rest of the class passed which is why we haven't heard about them. It will be a few years before he can resit.

Anyone remember the "video nasties" story lines that ran around the time that Jamie Bulger was killed in the early 90s?

The tabloids have a long running tack of linking horrible acts to content they don't approve of.

Turns out some people are just psychopaths.

Love this !!
In the mid 90s, i was involved with rescuing injured Foxes in East London, many a night i sat up late and was very lucky to observe them undetected & very close to them. When ex wife & i had to rent the flat out and move away, i missed them so much....
