Sally Rooney - what is the truth?

Supposedly Faber aren’t allowed to pass on UK royalties to the novelist Sally Rooney, due to her being a ‘supporter’ of Palestine Action. They have withdrawn the novels from sale and this has led many of the great and good to allege censorship etc. and even, bizarrely, to compare her to Salman Rushdie.

This seems to be to be a pyramid of nonsense, engineered just to raise the profile of Sally Rooney. There must have been numerous cases of artists and others supporting proscribed organisations, but still operating in the UK.
What about supporters of the IRA for example? Were the Dubliners unable to sell records in the UK? Similar for many American Irish ‘enthusiasts’.

It is more that she has said very publicly the royalties will be sent on to PA which leaves the publisher in a difficult spot if they send her money knowing where it will end up.
