What an absolutely top man. Working class background. Life-long Labour supporter. He was a jobbing stage actor until he was cast as Picard & became a major global star in his 50s, but he never turned his back on his roots in the theatre.
RIP, sir.
40's. TNG will be 40 years old next year. RIP, sir.

RIP. A genuine legend.

Meh TNG was the worst of the Treks IMO. But Picard was an awesome captain, and the favourite role model of my bestie!
Enjoyed the "Picard" series too.
86 is a fair innings, Lived long and prospered.
Santé!
Yes Picard was a great Captain, played by a great actor, but Next Generation had a clunky start and many prefer Voyager and DS9.

He probably made more of an impact for me as Professor X
I loved TNG and I consider some episodes to be the among the best TV episodes ever largely thanks to Patrick Stewart's acting and great scripts. I also saw him on stage in a solo performance of A Christmas Carol where he exuded so much energy and humour.
This scene from a TNG film encapsulates his acting for me:

I've seen the film version of A Christmas Carol several times, and always enjoy it. Will try to catch it again this year.RIP Sir.
