So what are your thoughts then? I'm led to believe that after some underhand changes to the law Gordon Clown has the power to delay a General Election in times of "National Emergency". Obviously I hope this isn't the case, but there is a slim chance that convieniently something might just happen around Feb-March time next year...

So what are the bets then? Will have to be something good as I reckon he'll want at least a year's delay to try and claw back.

A 9/11 style attack on London?

Another foot and mouth outbreak?

Mass civil unrest? (the pundits choice)

National Grid shuts down?

(Whoever gets it right has the boys sent round to give them a damn good kicking)

Thankfully I don't think he's got the balls to even attempt to pull off a stunt like that.

Blair on the other hand could have been a different story.

Yup, they'll definitely come up with something, and as they've shown callous disregard for the countryside over the last ten years, I'd be leaning towards some form of animal/bird disease, restricting movement and allowing the mass murder of yet more unaffected victims.

Department for the Extermination of Farm Reared Animals, anybody?

I'd guess a 'V for Vendetta' style small sclae biological attack on a very soft target (primary school, hospital) and a number of arrests of 'terrorists' BEFORE they (supposedly) set off further attacks.

At which point SadScrotum will lockdown the control of the country for the next decade.

I think he'd be looking at Civil War if he tried, it would be such a blatant attempt to keep his grubby, scummy, idiotic paws on power.

I rather doubt it myself. It would very possibly cause mass unrest.

foot & mouth would be the easiest way to do it. 1 person could do it easily (given access to the virus), stop an election quick time & blame someone else etc

He wont need one. Pols will be reversed by then and Labour will win the next gen election without need of this tactic.

Mark my words.

I don't think so.

I think Labour will lose the election. I do not believe they'd try and rig it, either, however much tinfoil hat stuff one thinks of.

Nope. The Tories are back in come a year June barring some astonishing unpredictable occurence.

How long they'll stay in given what they'll have to do...possibly only the one term. Unless the notoriously short memories of the voting public blame Labour then it will be a generation like it was with Thatcher/Major.

And the incumbent reptiles' desire and ability to arrange precisely that, is what this thread is about.

Or, at least, no worse off! Honestly. Cameroon's lot will not be as bad as this shower of st. They may not be great, I admit, but philosophically they are bound to try and get our economy into shape. They may be useless at it - that's quite possible - but at least they will try!

Brown and Darling are currently running the country in the full expectation they're about to be put out to grass....and they may as well make as much political capital as they can between now and then...and bugger it if the next generation has to pay for it.

That's who I think should be pissed off right now. The youngsters who will be saddled with University debt AND high taxes to pay for our generations mistakes. If I was twenty-five right now I'd seriously be considering emigration.

Think my money is on this one too. Would certainly stop all those posh country folk getting to the polling stations.

Thinking about it though it's quite possible the credit crunch might just work. How's about letting a couple of banks go circa march 2010?
