"President Barack Obama will call for a world without nuclear weapons in a speech he is to deliver on Sunday in Prague.

"Even with the Cold War over, the spread of nuclear weapons or the theft of nuclear material could lead to the extermination of any city on the planet," Obama said at a U.S.-style town hall meeting in the French city of Strasbourg on Friday.

"This weekend in Prague, I will lay out an agenda to seek the goal of a world without nuclear weapons," he said."

Surely the impossible dream?

So all of the governments will ditch theirs, but the terrorists will keep theirs. Well done.

Yes apparently the ultimate goal is that our entire international defensive stratagies revolve around boards with nails in. Then when Russia get a bigger board with a bigger nail America will build a board so big with a nail so wide it will destroy all of mankind.

Flawless.

erm, nukes aren't really very much use against terrorists!!! Countries yes. Small dispersed groups of angry people hiding amoung civilian populations, not so much!

Genie is out of the bottle though. No giving them up now.

I'm afraid I disagree. Historically non-selective mass extermination works quite well. It's just living with consequences that's a bit of a bd.

It'll never happen.

I think it's quite mad how they're cutting bits off sunken ships that were built before the 1st atomic explosion to do tests on as everything else has been radiated.

And of course the Russians will welcome the American inspectors into Moscow with open arms...?

Surely nuclear weapons are the most non-lethal weapons in existnce? Nobody has been killed with one since 1945?

They'de be better off getting rid of all the assault rifles.
