Boys held over 'shocking' attack
Discussion
Can't believe no one's replied to this topic yet - I am sure if it were in the 'old' Pie and Piston, it would have been at least 2 pages long by now! ...Will take a bit of getting used to..
I seen this in the news last night, what can possibly happen to the culprits - can the parents be held accountable?

Parent wont be held accountable I reckon.
The kids caught are over the age of legal responsibility (10 IIRC) but this country seems to ignore most things that under 16s do.
Although it begs the question, what fked up society breeds kids like that?
A serious solution, and I do mean it when I say serious, would be to nuke the whole area from orbit. We can't have that behaviour spreading around the whole country.

I don't know how to feel about holding the parents accountable, I have always done the best for my kids, but recently my 11 year old son has become a horror, he's getting detention after detention at school, doesn't respect anything or anyone, refuses point blank to do as he is asked, to do what is expected of him, and the back chat from him is shocking.
Right now he is out somewhere in the rain, until god knows when, with god knows who. Every time he has been out over the last week or so, I have waited for the phone call from the local nick. I just don't know what has got into him, but it's certainly not the way he was brought up, and I have tried everything possible to turn his behaviour round, and nothing is working.
I know some parents just don't give a damn what the little darlings are upto, but there are some of us that are trying our best.

I'm totally shocked about this, but its nothing new, is it? Children have been hurting their peers, and worse forever.
Maybe the parents shouldn't be held accountable, not all actions of all children are down to how they were bought up.
I disagree with this.Maybe the parents shouldn't be held accountable, not all actions of all children are down to how they were bought up.
At the age of 10/11 it is the kids education on what their actions can do. They should know right and wrong.

Aaah - you've missed the point.I seen this in the news last night, what can possibly happen to the culprits - can the parents be held accountable?
This is the "new" PH where "less is more" and "quantity" is replaced by "quality".
All the replies will only be of the highest order with only profound and erudite comment allowed.
(Or not, as the case may be).
Doncaster has a history of problems with Child Protection:
"Thursday, 2 April 2009
An investigation has been launched into what happened to two reports which warned of problems with a council's child protection services years before serious failings were made public.
Doncaster Council has been at the centre of a storm of controversy centred on the deaths of seven children previously known to social services in the town. Last month the Children's Secretary, Ed Balls, sent in a new management team to Doncaster to take over the leadership and management of children's services, following a "thorough diagnostic review" of the town's child safeguarding services ordered by Children's Minister Beverley Hughes in January.
Yesterday it emerged that a senior council officer, Mark Eales, produced separate reports which were submitted in 2005 and 2007 but which were not immediately acted on. The council's managing director Paul Hart said that he had launched an internal investigation."

How can you say that you're trying your best if you let him out without any supervision, not having a clue where he is or with whom???!! He's only 11 for goodness sake!Sorry if I have drastically missed some point here (I'm getting ready for a "whoosh!" comment) but it seems there are some mismatching values being expressed here.
Back on to the topic, this seems to be an increasing scenario in the UK now. These kids sound as if they are totally out of control, not only that but they have no respect for other people, property, their surroundings etc etc. Sadly it is not really their fault but that of the parents who were probably brought up in a similar way. It will take a long long time before this thing is just a memory for us. I think it will have to get a lot worse before it starts getting better

I disagree too on this point. When I was 10/11 the thought of doing what these boys are accused of doing would never have entered my thoughts let alone be carried out by me.ettore said:

Plenty have and plenty more will. It`s nothing to do with the fact I did`nt, more the fact that less of this kind of thing went on 20 or so years ago than it does now.
I think I took your last comment out of context, I read it as being that the numbers of children carrying out violence attacks has always been high not just the fact it has happened before regardless of how many kids were doing it.
