Good lad.

Nice bloke to as my daughter was doing a project on explorers at school. He sent her loads of leaflets, his autograph and some material for her to show at school.

What a legend and all round nice bloke !!

Sixty-five and at the top of Everest.

After suffering a heart attack the last time he tried.

A proper adventurer and all round decent bloke. Congratulations, Sir Ranulph.

Is he the one that got frost bite in his fingers and it pissed him off so much when healing with aching and itchiness that he went down to the shed, took out a band saw and hacked the manky ones off?

I think Sir Ranulph is the definition of double hard bd.

I'd forgotten about the 7 Marathons in 7 Days on 7 Continents... Four months after a triple heart bypass.

At last!

It is great to hear a story of British exploration success, rather than 'heroic failure'.

Especially at 65!!

One of Britains true heroes. yes
I do hope he makes it back safely, the summit being only the half way stop of the trip. Surely this is the panacea of his hiking aspirations & hopefully he can enjoy a long retirement although he obviously does not seem the type to enjoy the old pipe & slippers in front of a roaring fire.

The recent BBC2 programme featuring Fiennes,John Simpson & the yaughting bloke who went round the world was excellent. Simpson even lost feeling in some fingers due to frostbite as they each sampled a slice of action from each others respective fields.

Stand for parliament? (their arses would start twitching when he came in with his sleeves rolled up I'm sure!)
