Swine flu cobblers

I find it utterly ironic that it is Sky reporting this. And there is an article underneath titled:
Swine Flu:UK death toll reaches 30
From the Imperial College London: "meningococcal meningitis and septicaemia continues to affect around 2,000 children a year and claims over a 100 lives in the UK"
FFS. I mean, FFS!

My wife was diagnosed with Swine Flu and is pretty ill - and I've got it as well although not as bad. I had the sweats for a couple of days and my throat hurts like a b

Dying is only permitted if you have underlying health problems. Otherwise you just feel like it.

tty I must say, though I've certainly got a lot better by today. I am one of those "underlying health issues" folk too and was given antibiotics to help shift it off my chest asap as opposed to Tamiflu which merely relieves the symptoms slightly and shortens them by a day or so. Or so I've been told.
Oh, and I'm still alive surprisingly.

I actually put pen to paper last night and complained about a radio report which went something like this...
Intro of peice: "The 31st confirmed swine flu death"....
then "blah blah about 'serious underlying conditions"....
followed by...."it's not yet known if Swine Flu was a contributing factor"
WELL HOW THE f
k DOES THIS BECOME THE 31ST SWINE FLU DEATH THEN???

They are making it out to be soemthing like Dawn of the Dead, where everybody will catch it and die. Although it is a good idea to stay away from shopping centres anyway.
I WANT ZOMBIES!!!!!!If people are managing to get to the quacks to be diagnosed then they can't be that bad ffs.
Only had the REAL flu once in my life about 15 years ago and I literary couldn't get out of bed even if I wanted to. Ached like an absolute b
d and felt terrible. It passed after a few days and I got on with life. At no point did i ever feel the need to bother anybody for a diagnosis. I knew i felt absolute crap and that was that.
Seems to me this country is full of DOT COTTONS s
tting themselves at the slightest sniffle that they are going to die. Quick get to the docs for a diagnoses.
Swine flu my arse, get a life FFS!!!!
This is just another case of the government blowing everything out of proportion to make idiots believe they are brilliant at controlling things and there's nothing like a good bit of panic to make them look good as the country pulls though a major catastrophe.
The reporters are only reporting what the government want you to know and think and there's nothing like a good bit of creative panic is there . Hell, the media loves a bit of panic, they are partly responsible for the recession due to their sensationalism.
Swwwwwwwwwwine flu will you be the next to die.
31 and counting, will you be number 32.
I'm s
tting myself.
As a side note does anybody know the figure of fatalities due to hospital infections every year...Oh.....

Here we go, some interesting data for everyone.
I guarantee this won't be published by the media - it just wouldn't do!
Half-way down the page - the first bit is about Legionnaires.
http://www.hpa.nhs.uk/hpr/archives/Infections/2008...

I even saw just now, a report of the 'epidemic' in 1969 causing 30,000 deaths. Hold on, didn't influenza kill 30,000 in 99-00? See the table below the graph I've posted.
Hmmm... but that's not swine flu is it.
Look at the 'expected' mortality! 10,000 a year.

The annual estimate of excess mortality due to influenza is calculated using a time series model [4]. Each year it is revised to incorporate data from the current season and the fitted model provides a figure for the most recent season and readjusts the previous years' figures. (Table 1). Only 219 extra deaths due to influenza were estimated for 2007/08.
Deaths by all causes 07/08 [respiratory - I assume referring to cold/flu etc as this is what is reffered to in the text and graphs above it]

Right at the very end of a R4 news article today, there was a very quietly thrown in post script that might have gone by almost un-noticed. It said very simply that subsequent post mortems had shown that no link had been found to swine flu for many of the 31 deaths. You have to ask, just how inept is our medical establishment? or is it maybe the media?
