That is what makes it so depressing, the utter lack of surprise. I'll be equally lacking in surprise when they are never found, or if found will receive absolutely no punishment whatsoever.

The thing is the attack was so calculated; they would of had to either drive home to get bleach or go to a shop and buy it first.

Cannot be that difficult to find them what with the cctv in the cinema and restaurant, only problem will be when they decide to "punish" them in the courts and nothing is done.

Sale of bleach= banned. For me it's more the audacity that such idiots posess- if you'd done that thirty years ago, you'd have been lucky to get to the car without receiving a beatdown, or at least being apprehended. These days, noone wants to know.

So how do we stem this growing tide of lawlessness, and every increasing violence?

My theory.

It really is time to bring back corporal punishment, both in schools, and as a public warning.

Set up a stage in the local market town on market day, bring up the guilty parties, and horsewhip them in front of the public, the severity of the punishment being in accordance with the severity of the crime committed.

Anyone got a better solution?

something interesting....the police called the kid "fat" .... i often wondered, being as how important "respect" is to these little sts why dont more descriptions rip into them "police are looking for a fat little short arse, witnesses described him as fkin minging" may not catch them but at least they wont get to keep the article in their little scrap book of clippings!

Yup - because we all damn well know that anyone handing out vigilante justice would be the ones the police went after - much easier crime to solve. We have families and mortgages and don't want to lose that.

Sad state of affairs.

Yes, stop 75% of the country breeding. I'll leave you to guess which groups I may include in that statement...

That would be against their human rights innit.

I don't think it's that.

I think the problem is that these feral kids know no limits - speak to them and get bleach thrown over you. Stop them attacking your car and you get stabbed with a screwdriver. Take kids on these days and you could very well end up dead. If they know where you live then your life (and the life of your family of course) becomes complete hell.

The days of being able to chase kids away are long gone - and not just in the last 30 years as an earlier poster said, it's longer ago than that.

Yes, but they are like this because they know no one will chase them...

Someone needs to start a well equipped, well funded vigilante group to find criminals before police do. It would probably make police find the criminals faster because we all know how much the police want to make sure that criminals don't get hurt and are treated fairly.

The thing is I can count the amount of times I have run in to trouble in Cinema's. I had a bunch of kids in Berlin, drunk sitting on the stairs next to me. Couple in front told them to be quiet and they starting taking the piss. I was fuming, my girlfriend was telling me to be quiet but I couldnt help it. Told them to SHUT THE fk up, they promptly moved further away and carried on. Luckily this was Berlin, its not German culture to throw bleach over people lol. Which leads me to say that this is a UK problem, the youth in Germany are totaly different and much more respectful.

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)

Unfortunately, good men can do nothing these days for the above reasons.

Hence my earlier suggestion of public punishment of wrongdoers.

Just whip them, make them cry in public and then tell them to ps off. No paperwork, no criminal record, but everyone knows who they are, everyone has seen that they are not as hard as they would like to make out, and therefore not to be feared, and everyone would rest assured that punishment for the crime has been given.

Along the same lines but when caught they are placed in an old army barracks run by nasty bitter old sergeant majors where no human rights or left wing polices apply. Would love to see some spotty oink think he was tough and refuse to obey orders might end up with a bit more than a clipped ear.

Spend all day breaking rocks and given old style army physical training, they either wouldn't come out at all or with respect and no desire to return.

But probably not as true to life as it could have been. I imagine any gobby ste in the 50's would have had his attitude adjusted by the drill sergeant, RSM and provost sergeants boots behind the guard house, rather than given a talking to.
