Lots of lovely money to be spent on Climate Change. Creating gazillions of non-jobs.

Where do they think the money will come from?

Oh yeah.

Us.

Kill em all. Let God sort them out.

To be fair, the article is about the costs of adapting to climate change, not about trying to avert it.

Oh I thought it was the cost of making it happen, thanks for clarifying

With cooling likely to restart after the recent El Nino intermission has expired, it could cost a lot more than that - the report refers to (non-existent) manmade warming, whereas the real world has now been undergoing natural climate cooling for most of this century. Periods of modest natural warming are called climate optima for good reason. A summer heatwave can lead to a few thousand deaths, whereas a severe winter in the UK will see cold-related premature deaths increase from ca 20,000 to 50,000. A few of those and the country will grind to a halt for weeks due to the inability of transport networks to cope, as political policy heads off in the wrong direction. Regardless of anything else. Then there's our dire national energy security at a time when domestic demand looks likely to increase as cooling proceeds, and energy bills rising rapidly during and after a recession just adds icing to the cake. The storm could hardly be more focused. Meanwhile the gullible and culpable gather together in London to protest about a myth or capitalism or both; well they say ignorance is bliss so let's hope they enjoy themselves.

Seems a little on the low side, considering Hurricane Katrina cost $100BN all by itself. Throw in crop failures, etc and it will almost certainly be higher. Having said that- our climate as it is costs us billions, so it doesnt strike me as anything to be particularly alarmed about.

Can't be BS, it has the obligatory 'three times as much as previously thought' line in it....must be true.

Our climate may cost us billions, but we'd be fked without it.

Ah, sea defences. This is a huge problem to me because I keep hoping to be able to go back to the Maldives for scuba and need to do it before they sink below the sea.........

Definitely! Paradise on earth, going back next year (if they're still there).

Here's a novel idea, how about they all stop worrying about it and getting on with life. IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!
