I can happily see 100,000 "independent witnesses" stepping forward to help the police with their enquiries hehe

Yup, like that MPs' expenses scandal. It was scandalous how nothing happened when that was first reported.

So she gave her name and address. She is undoubtedly insured. The problem is what exactly,?

"witnesses say she drove off without leaving her insurance or registration details"

That is an offence and how do you know she is insured, would you trust anyone crashing into to you that they are insured?

Mail Article said:
but witnesses say she drove off without leaving her insurance or registration details – an offence carrying a possible six-month jail term.

When a witness approached her car, the MP is said to have wound down her window and said simply: 'I'm Harriet Harman - you know where you can get hold of me.'
Is that what you call leaving your details?

Mail Article said:
She drove into a parked car while talking on her mobile phone.

In 2003, Ms Harman was fined £400 and banned from driving for a week after being convicted of driving at 99mph on a motorway.

In April 2007 she was also issued with a £60 fixed-penalty notice and three penalty points for driving at 50mph in a 40mph zone on the A14 in Suffolk.
She paid the fine several months late, narrowly avoiding appearing at Ipswich magistrates' court.
She doesnt seem that bothered about road laws then.

You only have to provide insurance details if asked for them by a person with reasonable grounds to so require. Who was that person? Frankly, if anyone was to crash into my car, Ms Harman would be quite near the top of the list of chosen suspects.

"The police delayed talking to her because of the Labour conference" WHY ?

"she was too busy with the deputy leadership contest to pay a previous fine on time" But ordinary people are expected to manage it and most of us dont have a PA and an office full of helpers.

I hope she gets sent a S172 and fails to fill that in then she will be in real trouble.

She should be dealt with like anyone else but she wont.

POD you are fully excused for linking to the Daily Mail - for this story.

I won't bother repeating what others have said/quoted from the story.

But I will say - one rule for them and one rule for us.

If you know her name amd address, what is the point of s.172 ?
