Whatever else you may think about Blunkett nobody with any sense would deny that he has a brilliant brain.

I can't stand the bloke personally but what he has achieved in his life is incredible.

That brain is probably worth a fortune. You could show it to school children and tell them that if they vote labour then this bit, and this bit, and the bit down there and pretty much all of the rest will turn into something nasty.

Actually I think that all our current cabinet should be preserved by medical science. In years to come we may be able to cure their aflictions. If nothing else their preserved bodies can be wheeled out before every election as a warning from history.

Actually it'd be very interesting to study, as he is blind from congenital glaucoma, and consequently parts of his visual pathway may not have developed in the same way as a normal seeing person, the way it fails to develop in itself is fascinating and provides a huge amount of information about the way the brain communicates with the retina via the optic nerve.

So actually, he's done a very brave thing and something that will be really interesting and will yield results that may benefit research in many causes of blindness.

Alzeimers researchers will probably want a look, too. Plenty of sufferers leave their brains, but they've been appealing for healthy brains recently to compare them with.
