Labour has eaten into the Conservative poll lead, a poll showed in fresh evidence that the governing party enjoyed a better public response to its party conference.

Only 11% margin left to overcome and I fear the White Cliff's will struggle to cope with the mass exodus that will ensue.

I told you all months ago don't count your chickens.

However I hope they are gone for good. I just wouldn't put money on it. People on these isles are too fking stupid.

An online poll of 2025 people said. . . . . .

YouGov online polling gave the most accurate prediction of the last election result out of all the polling companies.

A lot can happen in 7 months!

In either direction, naturally.

In the last month running up to the election, not 6 months prior. They were only formed in 2000 so they have zero experience except predicting Labour re-elections.

I'd be happy if the monster raving loonies got in to be honest. Unfortunately this next election is not going to be about who is best to run the country, but who is likely to screw it up the least.

Maybe if no one party got to stay in place for so long then it would end the 'cosy little job for life' attitude that many of these people seem to exude, not to mention the utter arrogance displayed by the current lot. It may also be a less attractive career option for those who worm their way up the chain straight from uni without ever experiencing working in the real world.

The margin for error in a poll with values such as these and sample size 1000 to 2000 is between 2% and 3% so this result is barely different to the previous one it's being compared with.

Labour Making Little or No Progress would be a more valid headline. To see what the picture is more securely we'd need a bigger sample or more surveys over time, the latter will arrive soon enough.

There is, realistically, only one vote which actually counts. Literally.

OK, YouGov was the only pollster that correctly predicted Boris to win the London Mayoral election. All the others predicted Ken Livingstone would win it.

All I'm saying is that you cannot dimiss their polls so flippantly.

Labour are finished.

Even if the economy is showing signs of recovery, there is bound to be some late panic from Labour resulting in a damaging half arsed leadership struggle.

The expenses saga shows no signs of ending soon and labour supporters are more upset by it than conservative voters.

Two things are against Labour standing any chance, and both are related.

People are bored of Labour and are in contempt of them through familiarity. It took 19 years for that to happen with the Conservatives and just 12 with Labour.

The Conservatives have and are gaining the momentum. This will only accelerate as the press and important figures side with the winners before the inevitable happens next year. Look at The Sun...

Labour are sunk for now and let's hope for a good while into the future. Let's also hope that the Conservatives have the metel to do what needs doing, like Maggie did, without needing to resort to popularist policy headline grabbing at the expense of the country.
