Winky "Always had doubts about 24 hour licensing"
Discussion
Too crazy to be true!!!
Clearly the deluded fool thinks he will get away with it. Sadly there are enough people from the shallow end of the gene pool that are trusted to vote but have never passed the theory test.

I have no doubt that Brown would have been against it, he's a parsimonious dour killjoy son of a clergyman. I doubt that 24 hr drinking would have been on his agenda at all. It's the kind of populist policy that had Blairs fingerprints all over it. I see no reason to doubt Winky on this.

He was second in command during the entire blair era, he should take almost equal blame for the policies pushed through parliament during that time, irrespective of his own personal belief. The second in commands primary role should be that of sanity checker for the PM’s policies, that winky is only now coming forward and announcing he had doubts, then the question needs to be asked..............Is winky man enough for the job if he doesn’t have the backbone to stand up for his beliefs
As Chancellor he certainly would have supported 24 hour drinking. Just think of the vicious circle:
Take money from middle class
Give money to chav
Chav spend money on booze, winky rakes in tax
Give money to chav
Chav spend money on booze, winky rakes in tax
Give money to chav

Give money to chav....

In reality, I think it is a generally accepted fact that all policy had to be run by No.11 in order to keep the peace. Brown is over come with delusions of grandeur, which is not a newly acquired trait.
The vast chasm between the way things were supposed to be done (or the way we were led to believe) and the way in which they actually were will be the legacy of NewLabour.
Gordon is equally culpable as Blair (including his team of Mandelson, Campbell etc etc etc.) for every single NewLabour decision in my book.

Who cares? A non-story.
I wonder why he raises it now. Is he deflecting interest away from something else?
Come on kinky even you can't be that naive, there WILL be "something" waiting in the wings for this odious individual and his supporting administration to issue this statement.I wonder why he raises it now. Is he deflecting interest away from something else?
