Up from 4bn last year to 6bn this, a 50% increase (according to reports)..rolleyes

50% increase - due to better performance? That's good for those getting the bonuses but also good for the country surely, not least from the macro-economic perspective. Where relevant, monies (paid as bail-outs) from taxation can be paid back more quickly.

The increase is also a 0.25% share of the national debt Winky will leave us as his parting gift, and about 0.1% of GDP so it is minute in the scheme of things

Hear Hear for the Prince. I'm liking him alot .. now if he can work on the minute bonus i got last year, i'll be wearing his t-shirt. But seriously, i think what he says is a breath of fresh air - i think we need more toffs in politics, and not just those who have graduated with a degree in the politics of envy.
