So the Police and "Secret Security Services" will be able to watch everything you do on the internets.

Give it a few months and we will have that little popup thing they have in China when you are online reminding you that they are watching you.

My ISP has already stated they have a workaround for this. They shouldn't need to have to need to though.

Privacy... It's so overrated! rolleyes

Orwell was right, and V for vendetta is showing the solution. The sooner the UK population gets the balls to sort out the government, the better.

They have the arrogance to suggest they can do such a thing.

I imagine the nerds are allready ahead of them.

Tor anyone?

Another total waste of money, the only people that won't figure out a way round it are the ones with nothing worth monitoring.

The government say they have no money, yet can blow two billion Pounds on this scheme? It is madness.

Welcome to the Socialist Peoples Republic of Britain.

Disgraceful.

It's not as though we have spiralling crime rates (none MinTruth adjusted), very few police on the beat, people scared to walk through city centres at night, massive benefit and VAT fraud, drugs freely available in towns and cities, feral children with no respect for authority etc etc etc

labour tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime*

  • crime now categorised as any motoring offence or civil offences e.g. putting the wrong item in the wrong bin, or telling off a naughty child

What a joke.
Quite apart from the privacy issues, you just know that the government would f*** it up massively.
It would be a black hole swallowing taxpayers money from now to eternity.

Do this and every web site will implement SSL(https) so the ISP can catch and store as much encrypted data they want, sod all chance of knowing what is was though, may as well fill a few sans with random data.

Don't even need new technology to get around it, and even the few criminals that don't already encrypt their data will end up doing it without even realising

Oh no, we're doomed.

Well, we are - but those engaged in illicit behaviour won't be, because they'll use things like this:

http://www.torproject.org/

Which, tbh, is pretty much what everyone should do in response to this proposal.

So, just download, and that's it? It says I'm connected? Any tips and tricks you would recommend? Looking at the network map it's pretty much European based.

...apart from those who also can't figure out a virus scanner. AP news has been finding more and more cases where PCs are infected with malware allowing people to use it to store/serve child porn, and this later gets discovered by other computer users.
