It's all very well apologising to child migrants from half a century ago when Winky was in short trousers but how about apologising to 60 millions modern Britons whose economy he wrecked?

An apology from him is irrelevant, but to read into the stories of how those kids were treated both by the system, and those charged with their care, is shocking.
In most cases, official indifference meant that none of those 7,000 were ever checked after they arrived at their assigned destinations. Many simply became white slaves.

Think we should compile a list of everything winky's appologised for events that had taken place before 1997 and everything he's appologised for after 1997 (please expand with other examples)
Pre 1997
Slavery
Exporting Children
Bombing Germany during WWII
The homophobic treatment of Alan Turing
Falklands war
Treatment of deserters in WWI

Typical. Apologises for stuff done a long time ago, rather than present day mistakes that are as a direct result of labour's governance.
In 40 years time will there be a labour PM apologising for Winky's disasterous stewardship of the country?
I think history will try and avoid writing about him, and the last 12 years of Labour rule.In 40 years time will there be a labour PM apologising for Winky's disasterous stewardship of the country?

He really apologised for actions taken in defence of Britain and her Empire?
Along the lines of a "Sorry we flattened your cities, but you bloody well deserved it" sort of way.

Never quite seen the the point of apologising for something that someone did.
Most of the kids are still alive.
""The next stage will be consultation with the Child Migrants Trust and others on the actual form and wording of that apology." "
wouldnt it be cheaper and better to offer them a one time only one way ticket back if they want it rather then a committee sepnds weeks deciding what letter to write..
