60 billion barrels! Sounds good - hope they can get it all out.
Will Mr brown put his climate credentials aside for all that lovely brown stuff?
And the Argentinians. They should start drilling a long shaft at a jaunty angle to see if they can get some of it before the UK does.
Hope it gives the UK a shot in the arm. Post election of course.

I was under the impression that most people had an inkling there were vast reserves of oil under the Falklands? Doesn't it have one of the biggest emergency oil reserve areas in the world?
and it's all ours!!! mmwwahhahahahaThe strategic importance of the Falkland Isles was a major consideration as to why we were so keen to retain them.
Yes, the people here openly supported the peoples there wishes to be ruled from London and not from Beunos Aires and bash some foreign upstart johnnies into the bargain, but the unknown riches in and around the South pole area were regarded as hugely important - if somebody located a vast reserve of any useful mineral we would only get our dibbs on any share of it, if we had a local presence. Hence the need to keep the Union flag flying over Port Stanley.
Of course we had to go and defend the islanders, but the financial cost of the war and continuing military presence is more than covered by any potential reserves in the inhospitable Southern Atlantic and Arctic areas.
Bring on the oil, but we will have to share some of it with Argies.
