Am I missing something?
According to that article, Knox and her boyfriend have been ordered to pay €1m to each of Kercher's parents and €800k to each of her siblings in compensation.
Where exactly are they expected to come up with €4.4m from?
It's one thing awarding large damages against companies with insurance, but what's the point of ordering it against these two? Even if they get out of jail, find jobs and pay every single cent they earn over to the Kercher family until they die, they're not going to be able to pay up.

An interesting outcome. Not knowing much about Italian law I'm not sure what to make of it (maybe someone can help?). 25/26 years is pretty much 'you murdered her', yet someone else is already doing 30 years after some kind of 'grassing them up'...
I believe its called "justice". If they were in America one of them would have fried by now and the others may have been put in the waiting room.

Apologies if I'm being a bit thick, but surely in America the 'grass' would have evaded his thirty years for turning?I'm not commenting on the sentences (if they killed the poor girl I'd be happy with the Big Chair), I'm just struggling to imagine a 'storyline' that makes this the right outcome.

I thought the same when i read the article. Can anyone comment on this, genuinely can't see how it would ever actually be paid, but surely they ruled on the payment for a reason?According to that article, Knox and her boyfriend have been ordered to pay €1m to each of Kercher's parents and €800k to each of her siblings in compensation.

I find this extremely odd, there doesnt seem to be enough evidence for the conviction imo.
I think the Telegraph said it a bit better: http://m.telegraph.co.uk/;s=1hl3N1oZ_qvvsPAvBJfedQ...Baby Huey said:
I can't see how she deserves this sentence.
How can 3 people murder one person?
The way its described on the telegraph website is that one bloke held her down on her knees, the other 'sexually assaulted her' and Knox taunted her with the knife before stabbing her three times, and IIRC cutting/ripping her throat. In that case they should all be tried for murder IMO, providing they knew that Knox was going to murder her, rather than rape/violent sex game. How can 3 people murder one person?
The 'evidence' they were convicted on (although of course we may not be privy to it all) does seem pretty thin; it seems to revolve around them having holes in their alibi so they must have done it.

Any number of people can be charged with murdering one person, they were all in on the act together. How can 3 people murder one person?
25 years for murder seems fine to me, it is a shame that British courts do not place such a value on the life of the victim.
