Some bint on the One show is trying to save the planet by getting rid of farmed animals. The problem of Methane etc.

Methane she referred to as "8% or Carbon Equivalent Emissions..." WTF

Look love they are called greenhouse gasses if you believe that stuff.

And we're not even talking about Carbon but CO2.... ARRGHHHHH

nothing terribly exciting, just a way of comparing the greenhouse potential of different gasses using CO2 as the reference

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_dioxide_equiva...

ETA: and the reason they talk about carbon rather than carbon dioxide is that the atmosphere is only one part of the carbon cycle, so from that perspective it is more meaningful to talk of carbon rather than specifically of CO2.

Another stupidity. Its CO2 equivalent, not carbon equivalent. Nothing to do with the carbon cycle in this context.

Another interesting abstract concept, comparing a second something to something else that's not doing anything measurable, to calculate what multiple of zero the other thing is doing. Is there a grant for this?
