Yes, yes you could. And they did. And Dr David Kelly knew about it. And he died. And lots of our servicemen died. And lots of innocent Iraqis died.

Even when I watched "In the Loop" the idea of, to quote the BBC "matching the evidence..to suit the government" seemed a little far fetched. Turns out perhaps not.

A taxi driver with real 'knowledge' eh?

Is it any wonder the the present incumbents repealed or at least neutered the laws on treason?

The whole lot, Blair/Brown/Mandelson et al should be dragged outside and summarily slotted.

If this was carried out on the order of QE2 then this would be the greatest service she could ever perform for 'Our country and Our subjects'

I hope She is on PH...

Make what up?

Iraq did have WMD, or were the UN Inspectors just there on holiday?

The weapons they were inspecting, and checking the de-commissioning of, till they were refused access.

They found very little. Some quotes from Hans Blix here.

By March 2003, Hans Blix had found no stockpiles of WMD

There was no evidence of the destruction/de-commissioning of the weapons.

Was there not a large dossier presented at the UN of what Iraq had before the inspectors were 'asked' to leave?

By March 2003, Hans Blix had found no stockpiles of WMD and had made significant progress toward resolving open issues of disarmament noting "proactive" but not always the "immediate" Iraqi cooperation as called for by UN Security Council Resolution 1441. He concluded that it would take “but months” to resolve the key remaining disarmament tasks.[4] The United States asserted this was a breach of Resolution 1441 but failed to convince the UN Security Council to pass a new resolution authorizing the use of force due to lack of evidence.[5][6][7] Despite being unable to get a new resolution authorizing force and citing section 3 of the Joint Resolution passed by the U.S. Congress,[8] President Bush asserted peaceful measures couldn't disarm Iraq of the weapons he alleged it to have and launched a second Gulf War,[9] despite multiple dissenting opinions[10] and questions of integrity[11][12][13] about the underlying intelligence.[14] Later U.S.-led inspections agreed that Iraq had earlier abandoned its WMD programs, but asserted Iraq had an intention to pursue those programs if UN sanctions were ever lifted.[15] President Bush later said that the biggest regret of his presidency was "the intelligence failure" in Iraq,[16] while the Senate Intelligence Committee found in 2008 that his administration "misrepresented the intelligence and the threat from Iraq".

I see the Bliar spin machine has engaged first gear and has started to roll.

He knows the WMD claim ain't gonna save him at the enquiry where he is shortly to be questioned.
During his tiime as PM he never struck me as a particulary religious figure. And when I heard not long ago he'd finally chosen Catholicism, I thought, what's all this about then?
So, his defence is going to be that Saddam was a bad man and that there were lots of other reasons for regime change, and his moral defence will be his Christian beliefs. Hardly the point really, without the UN resolution and cabinet backing. So Tony's gone all religious to save his bacon. Muslim extremists justify their actions through religious conviction, and without any evidence of WMD, it appears that so will he.
Is there no end to this man's guile?

Ah, maybe I'm just cynical..

ETA oh, and when it comes to choice of interviewer for sunday's 'show' Evan Davies perhaps?
No. Fern Britton.

Well, he can't just come out and say "Sod you all, you horrible Little People. I know best and I was always going to kiss ass (Bush) and then kick ass (Sadman). Now feck off and leave me super rich and eying up US citizenship so that I can escape the ICC."
