Doesn't mean it will never open again, but since the company running it faced court tomorrow for winding up, I suspect this may be a bit of posturing to see if some knight in shining armour will rescue them.

Unlikely, I suspect; a new operator will no doubt appear at some point in the future. Wonder if the lack of continuity will seriously mess up the business case for running it, though?

I was born/grew up just outside Birmingham and honestly I didn't know that Coventry had an airport!

It's not suprising that it struggled given the proximity of East Midlands and Birmingham International though!

Its at Baginton.We used to land there for fuel if the weather was dire back when I was doing pipeline inspections via helicopter.You either ended up in the dodgy GA section or the VIP lounge after paying a vast handling fee.Coffee was good though.

frown

I have fond memories of the Baggington Air Shows there, the Red Arrows usually went more or less over our house, and my dad flew from there (not in a Gnat though).

I hope they find a good home for the Bolton Paul P III as well, it is a one of a kind and a beautiful airplane.

If it's anything like the car park, it's made of grass.

I picked my wife up from there once. When I reached the terminal (a couple of portakabins) I asked where the arrivals board was. "Just look out of the window, love" was the jovial response.

What about the perimeter road? New track day venue? New race circuit?

Google Maps said:
Coventry Airport --> Birmingham International Airport = 15 miles / 27 minutes.
Why could they possibly need two airports that close together?
