watching the news and surprise suprise parents are now sueing for damaged fingers on kids. Now having seen the film of how it happens and whilst having sympathy for the kids hurt, it is the parents fault. They have tried to erect the buggy whilst the kids have stuck their fingers in the mechanisum, if they took a second to check it would not have happened. One of the experts involved said it was because the warning sign was too small. Now I may be wrong but if they don't see a kid with the finger stuck down a tube when they erect the buggy how big would the sign need to be. And out of the thousands that have been sold less than 15 injuries in this country, all the others manage to use them properly so how come they cannot.

I think it said it all that they were issuing recalls in America but not here.

Quite how it is the manufacturer's fault that your little darling stuck his fingers in the buggy when you were closing it is beyond me. Just another erosion of personal responsibility in the age of entitlement.

If the 'trap' wasn't there they couldn't put their fingers in it.

Bad design in the first place.

I agree, but Maclaren obviously accept there is a problem with the design and operation of the buggey, or they wouldn't have re-called them in the US and fitted the hinge/trap covers, which are available now in the UK.

Your child could fall down the stairs of your house; I presume you would sue the builders if this happened?

Car doors are a fking bad design, no warning signs anywhere that you could trap your finger in one!!!! Come on, it's a folding device, common sense(oh, there is the problem!) would dictate keep the kid out of the way while unfolding it. It really isn't hard. The world went mad when knifes starting having "warning, sharp blade" stuck on them. Sue sue sue, horrible American desease that is getting just as bad here.

yes At which point did a hinge become not something you could trap your fingers in? Whether it's on a house door, car door, cupboard door or buggy? Absolutely ridiculous, watch your children and don't let them fold up the buggy!! mad

I thought it would be spelt the same as the F1 team, after all, 50% of the baby buggys I see on the council estate I pass through on my way to work have a black kid in them. wink

One parent complaining about it put it down as an accident until they heard of the recall, and compensation...
