Wasn't there a female racing driver in the 20s or 30s who had her breasts removed to aid her ability to race?
probably more to aid her ability to pretend to be a man in order to race...I thought, but no. It was Violette MorrisMorris's lifestyle was quite different from the traditional role of women during the 1920s. In addition to her wide-ranging athletic activities, Morris deviated from traditional behaviors of the time in several other ways. Among other things, she smoked heavily, two to three packs of cigarettes per day, and swore often.
She was refused license renewal by the Fédération française sportive féminine (FFSF (French Women's Athletic Federation)) amid complaints of her lesbian lifestyle and was therefore barred from participating in the 1928 Summer Olympics. The agency cited her lack of morals, especially in light of the fact that one of her lovers, Raoul Paoli, made public her bisexual activities. Paoli had recently left Morris after she had initially decided to undergo an elective mastectomy in order to fit into racecars more easily. After 1928, Morris settled into owning a car parts store in Paris, and, along with her employees, building racecars. Bisexual Nazi freak by all accounts

If there ever has been discrimination against women wanting to race cars, it came in quite a bit later than that. There were certainly a surprising number of women racing at Brooklands in the 20s & 30s, including Doreen Evans, Jill Scott, Margaret Allen, Kay Petre, 'Flying Fay' Taylor and Elsie 'Bill' Wisdom, to say nothing of Gwenda Hawkes (née Glubb), Gwenda Janson (née Glubb) and Gwenda Stewart (née Glubb)!

Digging around a bit turns up the picture below. The driver is Kay Petre - all 4'10" of her. The car is her frankly insane 10.5 litre Delage V12.
Edited to add the photo!

There is a partial solution, include jiggling as an Olympic event and promote cross-discipline participation.
