I'm going into meltdown (and thereby contributing to global warming) every time I see one of those "drive 5 miles a week less and save the planet" adverts because "private car driving is the biggest contributor to CO2 emissions".

It is all of course a load of bks, although if you listen carefully the stats are very qualified. Basically though it is a load of lies, but how many people have complained??

Can we not get the Pistonheads massive organised to fire off a few thousand complaints and get them pulled?

How about organising a five mile car rally in protest?

We should protest, it's a real wee warmer.

You're right govenrment, if we drive 5 miles less a week it will offset (slightly) the carbon emissions you plan to create with the ew Heathrow runway.

If I drove five miles a week fewer I'd have to leave the car at work on a Friday afternoon, bks to that.

I don't drive 5 miles a week so it would be a little difficult to drive 5 miles less.

Usually the shorter commute takes longer especially if you are sat in jams wasting time and petrol. Taking a longer journey (5 miles or more) gets you to work faster meaning you are more productive and produce more for the economy.

So this advert is a pointless pile of steaming garbage.

Some people will not be happy until we are all frogmarched back into life as it was in the middle ages (or North Korea as it is now known). If we do I hope they all die of the plague.

When I first saw that advert I immediately went out and gave the Tuscan a good vigourous petrol burning CO2 producing run. Loved every minute.

The advert that bugs me even more though is the one where a dad is telling a bed time story to his daugher about the evils of CO2 amd MMGW.

Good job the cushions are soft or I'd have had about 3 new tellys by now !

Some weeks I don't drive at all. So what am I supposed to do. These CO2 ads are just infuritating and worse non-sensical.

And yet, if like my MinL if you are a Gaurdian reading 1960's style champage socialist it seems to be easily overlooked.

Is there a date we have to start driving less? Drive more before that date, then you'll be automatically be driving less afterwards when you revert back to your usual habits. biggrin

All statistics are cobblers

I may have to drive a bit more than 5 miles less... just for fun, I worked out how many extra carbons the supercars that I invited to Wilton House emitted on that day alone...... roughly 21,000 miles worth....

And that's not including the 400 or so cars that came to the Sunday Service

I'm in favour of people driving five miles a week less - a few less school run mums, dawdling grandads, lazy arsed shoppers and other riff-raff on the road would be a good thing. They can do it to save the Flying Spaghetti Monster (bless his noodly appendages) for all I care - it'll give those us quieter roads, less pollution and easier runs when we actually want to drive.

If the CO2 ad is bad what the hell are Renault doing with their 'DRIVE THE CHANGE' propaganda-based message?

Maybe there's something about this in another PH forum but having just seen it for the first time I could hardly believe my eyes and ears. Assuming others have seen it already then forgive my initial surprise at seeing what was obviously an intro setting up the car for a fall...the car has been the most liberating invention yada yada then shots of ice calving and furry critters blah blah and a future for our kids without others dying as a result (wtf?) etc etc. Renault couldn't be more complicit in the crap they based their ad on if they were lying on their collective bellies in a pile of wet IPCC reports with a white flag flying nearby.

Pathetic.

The first minute is appalling. It seems a bit more embellished on YouTube.

In its original form, the advert was undoubtedly factually incorrect, it was way beyond that, it was, quite simply, a pack of lies.

People complained.

Now, it has a completely new voice over, and every last bit of it has been subtly changed in its wording. It implies just the same as it did before, but without the blatant lies.

It used to say something like the car was the biggest percentage of our personal emissions, now it says that the car is the biggest percentage of our personal transport emissions (no sh*t Serlock, how exactly wouldn't it feckin' be?), and so on.

For us, global warming is an issue that goes beyond the emissions coming out of the exhaust.
This applies to all warmists doesn't it? Substitute "global warming" for "creating a new world order" and it reads truer.
