Anyone else absolutely sick and tired of hearing this phrase from Winky every time he opens his mouth to comment on a mess he's got us all into?

Talk about a stuck record mad

Here are a few:

"We're doing everything we can to make sure there is proper distribution, in a fair way, of grit round the country."

"We're doing everything we can to get people back to work."

"We're doing everything we can to keep council tax down"

"You can see the amount of money that has been invested in hospitals and schools...We’re doing everything we can."

"We’re doing everything we can to take us through what is a global banking crisis."

"Speaking alongside Business Secretary Lord Mandelson at the launch of a government strategy for economic growth, Mr Brown said “going for growth” was the government’s number one priority. He added: “We will do everything we can to support and unleash the entrepreneurial, innovative and dynamic talents we know we have in Britain.”"

"... make Britain the number one market for offshore wind development and create about 70,000 jobs by 2020. "We are determined to do everything we can...to bring these jobs to the country"

ARRRRGHHHHHHH!

Its a total non-message. Of course you're doing everything you can, you're hardly likely to say "We're doing only what we feel like doing".

He isn't though - doing everything he can.

He hasn't bought one-way tickets for himself and the entire parliamentary labour party to somewhere remote and desolate where they can keep out of our sight for the rest of time.

Having been catching up on the early series of The Thick of It, I now cannot take anything said by Winky without imagining Malcolm Tucker standing behind him!

He is deliberately verbose to use up valuable interview time and not have to get grilled too much by the interviewer...

Another one from him today about the weather:

"...I want to reassure you that we are working closely with the emergency services, local authorities and all the relevant agencies to do everything we can to minimise the disruption and - most importantly - to keep you safe and warm."

furious

I wonder how many more times he'll say it before he's gone? I think as a lasting tribute to the Prime Minister who "did everything he could" for our country, I will record as many instances of his heartfelt concern here in this thread for everyone to remember him by...

Feel free to add your own if I miss any.

Notice the words, not "everything we should".
If one can do little, "can" is all that one can do.

I see that the arrogant tw-t is now 'getting on with the job' (another well worn phrase!!) and ridiculing the only two members of his government that were brave enough to say what the rest were thinking, but did not have the balls to stick their head above the ground.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8450375.stm

The only reason he has (lukewarm) support is because Miliband et al do not want to preside over a potential landslide labour defeat!!! Let Brown reap what he has sown, and go for the leadership of the party afterwards when he has really failed.

I just wish this arrogant, incompetant, power mad man would go and let someone take the reigns who can at least start pulling us out of this mess!! In my lifetime (50 odd years) I cannot recall a more incompetant unpopular PM, at least you knew where you stood with Maggie (and she certainly 'got on with the job').

I noticed this morning that he classed the recent action as 'silliness'. That simple statement shows his extreme arrogance. How can it be silliness? You have 2 members of your party wishing to change and improve their chances of success at the next election.

He's such a wker.

Yesterday, about salt supplies again:

"And we are also encouraging councils to share supplies, use existing stocks as effectively as possible and doing everything we can to ensure stocks are replenished."

And again:

"We will do everything we can and we will continue to monitor every part of this situation day by day and even in some cases hour by hour."
