Basically, a Republican just took a seat Teddy Kennedy held for 40+ YEARS!

In the words of BTO, "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet!"

Say goodbye to cap and tax MMGW legislation among a whole lot of other things

biggrin

This is the best thing to happen for the Republicans since helicopter hunting.

It doesn't really matter if the US drop cap and trade. I am sure that Gordon can figure out a way for the UK to make up the 'shortfall'..

My understanding is that this removes the Democrat's overall majority, is that correct?

If Obama hadn't gone back on some of his key election 'promises', then maybe he wouldn't have found himself in this mess.

Talk about saying one thing whilst doing another.

Now that the honeymoon is over...I think people are starting to realise that maybe he isn't all he was made out to be.

He appeared nude in a womens magazine 30 years ago according to the mail. smile

At least the public know he's got the 'balls' to make the tough decisions.

No he removes their 'super-majority' that means the Republicans can't filibuster.

That means the Republicans can filibuster. Basically the Senate needs 60 votes to pass any real legislation (except for certain fiscal stuff). This removes the Democrats ability to just ram anything through without making an attempt to get input from the Repubs.

I think the fall of Obamamania will be at least as spectacular as the rise.

Interesting times.

yes

With my tinfoil hat firmly pulled down over my ears...........When he was elected I thought there was a chance some loon would try and kill him, I've a hunch that he'll still get popped and it will happen before he truly dives in the polls, he can then become the next JFK, a "beacon of hope" to people

This is good news, however, the more extreme left in America, mainly hiding under the cover of the democrats won't be beaten yet. The politics in America has become very similar to that of the UK over the last decade or so and there is an extreme left wing virus at work on both sides of the atlantic. Of course, in the UK they are hiding under the Labour cloak.

If he can win in that bastion of leftism, imagine what happens in November. smile It appears that the "blue collar working class", who have always supported the Democrats in that tiny state, have suddenly realized that the party does not stand for them but rather for the workshy benefit seekers who trade votes for pay.
