I am absolutely flabergasted at the new craze that seems to be engulfing the teenage population.

The new 'fun' for teens seems to be to choke themselves until they faint to gain a high as they come back round normally whilst being filmed by their mates.

News footage this evening showed a girl strangling herself unconscious and then fitting on the floor as she came round, this was coupled with laughter from her friends watching. Unfking believable.

Nothing new about that except the mobile phone footage.

It was a craze at our primary school more than 30 years ago.

Well i never. I must have lived a sheltered life.

Although i didn't really get involved with the cool kids at school; i think the smoking jacket and verucca sock put the them off.

Yep, I remember being told about it using a lamp post. Apparently you had to do something along the lines of looking up for ages whilst pulling on the lamp post... or something? Then look down and you blacked out.

... or something completely different but I remember watching a childhood friend try it to no avail when I was about 8 or 9 (17 odd years ago). I, on the other hand, was too sensible to try it. angel

Not new I'm afraid (only the way of blacking out) 35 years ago kids at my school would hyper ventilate and then stick a thumb in their mouth and blow really hard without exhaling. They would black out and "trip" when waking up.

That sounds familiar.

It still involved a lamp post though.

It's ok, Darwin will get them shortly...

Put it this way, are kids who think it's "cool" to strangle themselves destined to be good parents in the future? No.

Darwinism in action!
