The big question is why would they want to change this?
Presumably alignment of business hours? Until you've worked in an organisation that has to account for different time zones, it's difficult to see what all the fuss is about, I agree.I have no problem adding on an hour, everyone can manage to do that.
Why would people be aligning business hours? Maybe we could align business hours with New York. That would be easier for the financial markets for trading.

Why would we not want to move to the same time zone based on the longtitudinal position of the UK? For example, many people do business in Europe from the UK and it's a real pain losing an hour going out in the mornings to make an early meeting.
Well if we were going on Longitude, we shall remain where we are. The French and Spanish are wrong.JagLover said:
Another reason (if one were needed) to get rid of Winky. GMT is our time zone anything else is artificial.
This would also mean the only countires where UTC exists are Iceland, Ireland, Portugal and Western African Countries. So would GMT remain? do they plan to change UTC? As this comes from the Observatory at Grenwich.
Muppets.

who cares, the important thing is that we're on the same time as others in our zone. It's the UK who should change since they have the smaller population affected.Silver993tt said:

ks! This country sits astride 0deg Long and local noon is when the sun is directly overhead at noon. Our time zone is GMT, end of story. Oh, and we should do away with BST too. If people don't like going out in the dark then stay indoors until it's light.Strangely Brown said:

If people don't like going out in the dark then stay indoors until it's light. It doesn't matter how much you change the clocks we have the same amount of daylight evn if you move them by 12 hours it will be exactly the same amount of daylight just it will be in the middle of the night.
Mind you that sounds like a labour idea to save energy on street lights that we change it so night time is when the sun is out

nothing to do with daylight at all, it's to do with being on the same business hours as alot of Europe. While most on here don't do an business outside of the UK, many people do.
Well i should hope they are clever enough to add an hour when they need toJesus its not hard
We even managed it romping round the planet on a ship, but we did occsionally forget and called the office mobile at silly o'clock when the office had annoyed us
In the past I did a lot of work with people in Sydney and in New York - amazingly, we managed to achieve that, so handling a 1 hour difference shouldn't really be a problem. Then again, I don't really care, it's not something that gets my blood boiling.
Personally I don't see why we don't have GMT all year round although, being in the west of the country, for noon to coincide with the sun's zenith, I think I need GMT+0:15 or so...
