Does it really matter:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8517156.stm

when it's all lies, damn lies and statistics?

Apart from Merv the Swerve needing to get his quill pen out again, is it going to affect us much - compared to all the other woes?

For a lot of people it will mean a lower standard of living as their incomes will be fixed as the cost of living increases...

For most people i reckon, though it becomes more of a critical factor when you're low income or a high proportion of your income is used to fund a variable-rate debt. Anyway, car servicing and gadgets seems to have stayed flat or dropped so i'm relatively comfy for now.

Yes - I suppose I meant that given most people are clinging onto gainful employment by their last fingertips anyway, the £ exchange rate has shafted us all one way, VAT has just been put back to a rate that's now suspected to go north and another and the oil price has no bearing on the pump price.....

Eh, exactly! Are we going down the Rhodesian route then? It just needs someone to say "It won't affect the pound in your pocket"!
