Jesus H f
king Christ. Is it 1810 or 2010? Will someone please let me know as it appears that the clowns in charge of this country still think its 1810 as they think its acceptable for kids to be taught that homosexuality is wrong (amongst other religious guff).

I think its perfectly acceptable that faith schools should be allowed to teach according to their religious beliefs.
so you would be happy for an all muslim school teaching fundamentalism for exampleAnd why do we need to get rid of Christianity just because we have to have a level playing field with Islam? We live in a Christian country ffs.

Public ignorance. believe it or not, not every second word spoken in an islamic school is "jihad". The majority of muslims are normal people it is a small core who are fundamentalists much like with christians/jewish etc tbh.

Simple solution, get rid of faith schools, teach kids about reality instead.

tter. The schools are popular because they deliver results. Letting them choose which imaginary friend to bow down to, and teaching that friends sexual peccadilloes is part of the price.randlemarcus said:

You sound rather clued in to religious terminology. Even your name refers to a Saint.Bedazzled said:
we're not a secular society, there are bishops in the house of lords
No doubt about it, we're not secular, technically, the Queen is both Head of State and Church/Defender of the Faith. The French and the US are the two spring to mind. But what the hell...The reality however is the Church tends to keep it's nose out of politics, so there is in some sense an unofficial secularism, which is why the Archbishop of Canterbury and Prince Charles both get roundly slated for daring to stick their noses into "political" matters,

That price is too large and frequently troublesome. There is no 'benefit' good enough to continue propping up peoples lives with falsehoods and intolerance.
There is one very good benefit to allowing people the ability to choose whether they worship a God or not.And that is freedom.
We live in a society where we (supposedly) respect other peoples beliefs. Long may it continue. If religion isn't for you, then don't go to church, read the Bible, the Koran, whatever. Simple as that.
If Christians want to send their children to schools that still believe in something, eg eduction, then so be it.
