There's a thread running in TV film etc aswell as I said in there I'm actually quite gutted even though I didn't know the guy he seemed to be a friendly likeable chap, knowledgeable in his field, too young to die whatever the circumstances

Without wishing to sound sexist in any way, but is it now compulsory to be a gay man before you can become a male TV presenter?

Sad news all the same - even though I never watch property programmes (or daytime TV for that matter).

RIP, but I think its almost compulsory to be gay, or to behave like a gay, before the BBC offer a man a 'position'.

I think there are more than that. Not all gay people flaunt their "gayness". It's not a problem for me but, as in certain occupations such as the theatre, music, fashion, airline cabin crew etc, I would suggest that the ratio of "gay" to "straight" is higher in TV presenters than the national average.

The reason I raised it is that I do think that the nature of TV has changed dramatically over the last 20 years or so. It has been much more "feminised" in its content and I don't think the feminisation is all down to women.

Politicians too apparently. The kit as described in media coverage involves bin liners, oranges, rope, and probably a cuddly toy and conveyor belt. If the risks are so high it would seem an unwise practice to say the least
